What is Liberty Ministries?

Grace, Hope, and Regeneration what do these words mean to you?
It is by grace that we have received salvation through Jesus Christ. Upon receiving our salvation a feeling that life will no longer be as it once was and that God has a purpose for our lives – that’s hope. In order to move from grace to realization of hope there must be regeneration and that is exactly what Liberty Ministries is all about.

Mission Statement
Liberty Ministries exists to serve offenders in prison and ex-offenders in the community by showing God’s love, providing practical assistance, and supporting biblical standards of justice.

What We Do
Liberty Ministries was established in 1980 to serve the prison communities of Montgomery County Correctional Facility and the State Correctional Institution at Graterford. Since its inception, Liberty Ministries has positively impacted thousands of men and women with the teaching of God’s word, spiritual, physical and emotional support, and the life changing power of Jesus Christ.

Liberty Ministries is a three fold ministry consisting of a residential aftercare, which we refer to as, Liberty House; our in-prison ministry at Montgomery County Correctional Facility and SCI-Graterford; and our Thrift Stores.

Liberty House, our Christ – centered aftercare facility located right here in the heart of Schwenksville is divided into two, phases housing up to 16 residents:

Phase I – is an intensive, nine month, discipleship program, designed to equip a man for successful reintegration into the community. Programming includes biblically centered education, counseling, and life skills training. (See following pages for a more detailed description of Phase I.)

Phase II – Offers a man the opportunity to reside in an on-site apartment for up to two additional years. Thus, providing him with the continued moral support, education, and counseling necessary for successful reintegration, while learning to live independently.

Our In-Prison Ministry utilizes the gifts and talents of more than a hundred volunteers who visit men and women in prison, teaching, training and mentoring. Some of the ongoing programs offered by our in-prison ministry include: weekly Bible studies, One on one Christian counseling, Pre-Release Classes, Sunday worship services, Our Lydia Bag Program for the women and our Annual Christmas Stocking Project for all of those incarcerated at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Our Thrift Stores provide support for the aftercare and in-prison ministry, while providing job skills training and employment for the men at Liberty House. Our five stores have become a mission field in themselves, in that they provide employment for over 60 people, provide low cost, quality clothing and home furnishings and offer the gospel practically through staff and volunteers in an atmosphere that honors Christ.

Grace, Hope, and Regeneration

It is by grace that we have received salvation through Jesus Christ. Upon receiving our salvation, the feeling that life would no longer be as it once was and that God had a purpose for our lives – that’s hope. In order to move from grace to realization of hope there must be regeneration. These three words summarize what Liberty Ministries is all about.

In bringing the message of grace to those we serve, it is essential that we, as a ministry, work ever diligently to ensure that we clearly explain that there is only one-way to a restored relationship with God and that the way is through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. We must make sure that there is nothing a man can do in his own power to receive salvation and man’s teachings, his instructions, his rules and regulations, will not heal him.

Therefore, Grace, Hope, and Regeneration simply is through Christ and Christ alone.

In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
